Laptop Use in the Library
Hello, there! Welcome.
Here a few things to keep in mind while using laptops in the library:
Unlike our desktop workstations, which store none of your personal information after you are done with your session, this laptop MAY remember your files. It MAY stay logged into your accounts, unless you log out of them before closing the browser. In an attempt to help you stay safe and keep your work private, we have installed Chrome in a Guest user configuration as default.
It is up to you to log out of your accounts and to delete your files from the laptop before you are done with your session. Staff may attempt to assist you upon request, but no guarantee is made. Again, this is simply your responsibility.
When you are done, sign out of websites you signed into, delete your files from the Downloads and Desktop folders, and generally follow best judgement for keeping your data safe. Do not save passwords to the browser. While convenient, this would end up exposing your passwords to whoever uses the laptop after you.
Following only a few simple best practices will keep your data protected and private. We encourage you to take these instructions to heart.
If you need a way to save your work: 16GB flash drives are available for purchase at the Circulation Desk for only $3 each. One 16 gigabyte sized flash drive is usually more than enough for most people to save all of their files to.
